Albany County
Convention & Visitors Bureau
Test Low Power Radio Transmitter
(Sept 9, 2004) The
Albany County Convention
& Visitors Bureau, which operates the Albany Heritage Area
Visitors Center,
is working with Landmark Audio Technologies, LLC to test low-power,
high
quality radio transmissions to promote tourist sites in the Capital
Region.
Broadcast on 99.1FM, messages describe the Visitors
Center’s
exhibits, tours of Albany
and visitors information and services centers to
enhance tourists’ introduction to Albany.
Landmark Audio Technologies was
seeking a
partner to test the usefulness of FM350, a short distance FM radio
transmitter, to use as a tool to enhance
historic and tourism information programs and as a
model for future products. Michele Vennard, President/CEO of Albany
County
Convention & Visitors Bureau, agreed to test the program over
the next year
to determine its usefulness and optimum broadcasting abilities. Said
Vennard:
“The transmitter’s signal is very strong for almost
a ¼ mile radius around our
location. It enhances visitors’ introductions to downtown Albany
before they even get out of their
cars.” The24-hour broadcasts will be promoted by signage
posted in the vicinity
of the Albany
Heritage
Area
Visitors
Center,
located at 25 Quackenbush Square
(at the corner of
Broadway and Clinton Ave.)
in downtown Albany.
Landmark Audio Technologies, LLP is owned
by Richard Bamberger from its office in Albany.
It is a partnership formed to design, manufacture and market customized
services related to the use of products to broadcast from area
attractions.
